A 53-year-old driver was killed Sunday after crashing when he tried to pass another vehicle in Camden County, officials said.

Preston Newbey was driving west on Williamstown Road in the area of Lakedale Road in Winslow when he veered off the road and struck a utility pole, township police said Monday.

Newbey, of the Sicklerville section of Winslow, was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene following the 5:18 p.m. crash.
