Driver passes school bus in no-passing zone, fails to notice Thurston County Sheriff, too
Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders made a traffic stop on Monday and cited the driver for multiple violations, the sheriff announced in his own social media post.
Sanders was following a school bus, and another driver in a Honda Civic was following him, in the Yelm area Monday afternoon, he said.
"Right after the bus dropped a child off, I watched as the Honda behind me decided to pass both the school bus and I in a no pass zone around a corner through an area that is a 50 mph zone," Sanders said in his post.
He pulled the driver over, then discovered the following: expired vehicle tabs from 2018 and that the driver did not have a valid license. Sanders also cited the driver for reckless driving.
The car was later impounded, he said.
"To those who don't mind putting our children at risk: I don't mind watching you walk home," Sanders said.
