Drogs prove a popular bet to lift the FAI Cup but are still underdogs with the bookies

Drogheda go into Sunday's game with nothing to lose following a roller-coaster season that sees them in a relegation play-off next Saturday. The Drogs manager, Kevin Doherty, says they are well used to being the underdogs and will use that to their advantage at the Aviva. A season that promised so much for Ruaidhrí Higgins' Derry City side seemed to peter out near the end, with Shelbourne taking league glory. However, the Candystripes can still take something from this season with a win in the FAI Cup final at the Aviva, in a game that they head into as odds-on favourites at 3/10 with the Drogs now on 9/4 to lift the cup. Alex Apati of Ladbrokes commented: "Drogheda will feel that this is a free shot, and the punters are backing the Louth side to pick up the silverware. Whereas Derry will feel hard done by to come away from this season with no silverware after giving Shelbourne a run for their money for the whole league season."
