Water polo: Wilson girls, boys win in first round of state playoffs

Obituaries can be submitted for any future date, but they must be received no later than 3:00 p.m. the day prior to its running for it to be published.

Olivia Vecchio scored six goals Thursday to lead Wilson to a 13-2 victory over Wissahickon in the first round of the girls water state championships.

Wilson led 5-0 at halftime before exploding for four goals in each quarter after intermission.

Emma Dougherty and Nevaeh Houck each had two goals for the Bulldogs, and Sydney Strieb, Evelyn Quick and Aubrey Schlegel each had one goal.

Lexi Stambaugh and Houck each had two assists, and Dougherty had four steals and Houck had three.

Wilson goalies Sydney Woods and Christina Rohm each made one save.

Springfield 7, Gov. Mifflin 4

Isabella Harman scored three goals but Gov. Mifflin lost to Springfield 7-4 in the first round of the state playoffs.

Mackenzie Caron had the Mustangs' other goal.

Boys water polo

Jackson Williams scored nine goals to lead Wilson to a 14-8 win over Souderton on Thursday in the first round of the boys water polo state championships.

Skylar Burnish and Ezekiel Eberly (3 steals) each scored two goals and had two assists.

Keagan Eisenhofer scored a goal, and had six assists and three steals.

Ephram Murray made 13 saves.

LaSalle 22, Reading High 13

LaSalle defeated Reading High 22-13 on Thursday in the first round of the state championships in water polo.

For the Red Knights, Trey Stricker had six goals, and two assists and two steals.

Brock Shrawder added three goals and two assists, and Gabriel Iswalt had three goals.

Dalton Rogers had a goal and three assists, Collin Gilbert had three assists and Matthew Kerchner had three steals and 14 saves.
