An Indiana State Trooper is recovering after a violent encounter with an intoxicated Chicago woman during a traffic stop last weekend.

The incident occurred on Saturday, June 29th, at approximately 6:40 pm on Interstate 94 near the Porter County weigh station. According to Indiana State Police (ISP), Trooper Justin Baumeister clocked a silver Hyundai traveling eastbound at a dangerous speed of 105 mph in a 70 mph zone.

Trooper Baumeister initiated a traffic stop, but the vehicle, driven by 22-year-old Shelby Foster of Chicago, initially failed to yield.

After pulling over, Foster reportedly displayed signs of intoxication. The situation escalated further when Foster became verbally aggressive towards Trooper Baumeister.

ISP alleges that Foster's hostility continued during transport to the Porter County jail. She managed to slip out of one handcuff and while Baumeister attempted to re-secure her, Foster allegedly bit him on the arm. Thankfully, the trooper was able to pull away and Foster reportedly began screaming threats.

Foster's aggressive behavior didn't stop there. Upon arrival at the jail, she is accused of spitting on a jail officer during the booking process. In addition to the initial traffic violation,

Foster now faces a slew of charges including battery to a public safety official, resisting law enforcement, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, disorderly conduct, and possession of false identification. She is currently being held at the Porter County Jail on a bond of $10,000.
