DuSable Lake Shore Drive closures for ongoing resurfacing in effect Sunday evening, this week

CHICAGO — The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) has announced this week's closure schedule for the ongoing resurfacing of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive, between LaSalle Drive and Hollywood Avenue.

Temporary full closures of all lanes where work is being performed will begin Sunday evening. All work is expected to be completed by late October.

Following are this week's traffic impacts, per CDOT, weather pending:

  • Sunday, Sept. 22: Beginning at 6 p.m., all southbound lanes of DuSable LSD will be closed between Fullerton Ave. and LaSalle Dr. This will include the closing of all entrance and exit ramps between Fullerton Ave and LaSalle Dr. All southbound vehicles will exit at Fullerton Ave. and detour to LaSalle Dr. via Stockton Dr. All lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. the following morning.

  • Monday, Sept. 23: Beginning at 7 p.m., southbound DuSable LSD will be reduced to one lane between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr., and all ramps will remain open. Beginning at 9 p.m., all southbound lanes of DuSable LSD will be closed between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. This will include the closing of all entrance and exit ramps between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. Inner LSD will remain open to detour traffic to LaSalle Dr. via Sheridan Rd., Cannon Dr. and Stockton Dr. All lanes will open by 6 a.m. the following morning.

  • Tuesday, Sept. 24: Beginning at 7 p.m., southbound DuSable LSD will be reduced to one lane between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr., and all ramps will remain open. Beginning at 9 p.m., all southbound lanes of DuSable LSD will be closed between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. This will include the closing of all entrance and exit ramps between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. Inner LSD will remain open to detour traffic to LaSalle Dr. via Sheridan Rd., Cannon Dr. and Stockton Dr. All lanes will open by 6 a.m. the following morning.

  • Wednesday, Sept. 25: Beginning at 7 p.m., southbound DuSable LSD will be reduced to one lane between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr., and all ramps will remain open. Beginning at 9 p.m., all southbound lanes of DuSable LSD will be closed between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. This will include the closing of all entrance and exit ramps between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. Inner LSD will remain open to detour traffic to LaSalle Dr. via Sheridan Rd., Cannon Dr. and Stockton Dr. All lanes will open by 6 a.m. the following morning.

  • Thursday, Sept. 26: Beginning at 7 p.m., southbound DuSable LSD will be reduced to one lane between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr., and all ramps will remain open. Beginning at 9 p.m., all southbound lanes of DuSable LSD will be closed between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. This will include the closing of all entrance and exit ramps between Irving Park Rd. and LaSalle Dr. Inner LSD will remain open to detour traffic to LaSalle Dr. via Sheridan Rd., Cannon Dr. and Stockton Dr. All lanes will open by 6 a.m. the following morning.

  • Friday, Sept. 27: The work starting Thursday night requiring full traffic closure will be reopened to traffic by 6 a.m.

  • CDOT advises drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time when traveling. Drivers are also urged to pay close attention to flaggers and construction signage when entering and driving near work zones, obey the posted speed limits, and be alert for workers and equipment.
