Duval Rundown: Reacting to the Jaguars’ Week 4 loss to the Texans

"I really walked away from Wednesday's availability concerned about this team, the fight that it would have coming here to Houston. And I actually walked out of that locker room — and obviously, this is a team that's 0-4, that's who they are, and they all admitted that — but I felt much more positive about where this team can go.

"And look, only one team in the history of the NFL has ever started 0-4 and made the postseason. And that was before, granted, that was before a 17-game regular season. But I walked away from just speaking to Christian Kirk and Travis Etienne, Brian Thomas Jr., Ventrell Miller just now. And it was actually pretty positive, by far and large.

"It was, 'We're not where we want to be. There's still mistakes. It's not perfect.' But there were enough things done that if you were to bring all those things together ... this is a very talented team. And the fact that it wasn't a, you know, 'Brush it off your shoulder like whatever, I'm making money, I don't care.' It wasn't that.

"Travis Etienne, I can't wait to share the sound bite with you guys on the 1010 XL social and digital channels. He was so effusive in his praise for the young players like Ventrell Miller, like Brian Thomas Jr., like Tank Bigsby. Travis said to us this week, 'We need to get back to the reason we played football. Take the money out of it, take playing in the NFL out of it. Why do you play football?' And he said that those three young guys are prime examples of why you play that sport of football. And Tommy, obviously, I know that that really speaks to your soul as a former football player.

"So it was really encouraging to hear that from Travis and company."
