Eagles star WR getting evaluated for a concussion after taking big hit vs. Saints (UPDATE)

J.Jones29 min ago
At the beginning of the fourth quarter, Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith's helmet popped off after taking a big hit from Saints defensive tackle Khristian Boyd, and he laid on the ground for a few minutes before walking off under his own power.

Smith was already corralled by two Saints defenders when Boyd came in and jarred his helmet loose. The play went on for a while, but the officials didn't blow their whistle as Smith got tackled.

After being evaluated in the medical tent, Smith went to the locker room for a concussion test. Eagles wide receiver Britain Covey suffered a shoulder injury during the second quarter and was ruled out. So without Smith and Covey, the Eagles only have three healthy wide receivers left: Jahan Dotson, Johnny Wilson and Parris Campbell.

The Eagles are down 12-7, so they will need to score more points to win. Running back Saquon Barkley rushed for a 65-yard touchdown after Smith got hurt. On the last few drives, he could become the focal point of their offense.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts will target tight end Dallas Goedert and Barkley in the passing game. The Saints could put a lot of players in the box to shut down the running lanes, which will force the Eagles to the pass ball on their final drive.
