Eight train cars derail in Cincinnati
CINCINNATI, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Multiple train cars derailed in Cincinnati Saturday, striking a viaduct and closing roads.
Cincinnati fire officials report eight train cars derailed in the Queensgate area on Saturday night. The Sixth Street Viaduct was reportedly struck by the derailment, leading the road to be closed for several hours. At least one car fell into Mill Creek.
Authorities confirm the train was carrying a shipment of new automobiles. The train was reportedly not transporting any hazardous materials.
The train was in preparation for transport and was only going about two miles per hour when it derailed, Assistant Fire Chief Matthew Flagler said. It is currently unknown what caused the trail to derail.
