Police charged two women Wednesday with drug possession with the intent to distribute during a traffic stop in Eldersburg; police say they discovered capsules of fentanyl and baggies and vials of crack cocaine in their vehicle.

Carroll County Sheriff's Office Pro-Active Community Enforcement members pulled over a red Kia Sorrento for "an equipment issue" and an expired registration at about 3:25 p.m., Wednesday, near Liberty Road and Oklahoma Road, according to a Thursday news release from the sheriff's office.

Vallira Sage Crystal Rice, 33, of Baltimore, and Deanna Marie Rudisill, 44, of West Virginia, were both arrested.

Police said Rice was found to be in possession of 47 capsules containing 19.4 grams of suspected fentanyl, and 26.4 grams of suspected crack cocaine in 108 baggies and three glass vials. Rice also had an open arrest warrant and was detained, according to police. Court records show that Rice was charged July 21 in Baltimore City District Court with felony first-degree assault, among other charges. Rice remains in police custody at the Carroll County Detention Center and was charged with two counts of possessing a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute and one count of paraphernalia possession.

Police said they found a single capsule of suspected fentanyl on Rudisill. She was charged with drug possession and paraphernalia possession and was released on bond, according to police.
