ELECTION 2024 | Joyce, Reschenthaler re-elected to Congress
The region's two U.S. House of Representatives members – Dr. John Joyce, R-Blair, and Guy Reschenthaler, R-Washington – retained their seats Tuesday.
The Associated Press called both races before all votes were counted in the heavily Republican districts that were considered safe for both incumbents.
Joyce defeated Democratic challenger Beth Farnham in the commonwealth's 13th Congressional District that includes all of Cambria County and a sliver of Somerset.
"It is a great honor and privilege to represent and serve the hardworking families of Pennsylvania's 13th Congressional District in Congress, and I am grateful for the support, faith and confidence shown in me by my constituents," Joyce said.
"I will continue to be south-central Pennsylvania's strongest advocate in Washington, and I will never stop fighting to preserve our freedoms, protect our communities, grow our economy and ensure that every family has access to affordable and innovative health care."
Reschenthaler turned back the challenge of Democrat Chris Dziados, a United High School graduate, in the 14th Congressional District. He will continue to represent the district that includes almost all of Somerset County, along with most of Indiana and Westmoreland counties.
"It is a tremendous honor to represent Pennsylvania's 14th District, and I am humbled by tonight's overwhelming victory," Reschenthaler said. "Thank you for entrusting me to serve as your voice in Washington. I'll never stop fighting for the people of southwestern Pa."
Both Joyce and Reschenthaler joined the U.S. House of Representatives in 2019.
