October Uptown homicide suspect arrested in Maryland, will be extradited
CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A man accused of killing a 32-year-old Charlotte man in October has been arrested in Maryland, authorities announced.
CMPD said on Nov. 5, their Violent Criminal Apprehension Team in coordination with Prince George County, Maryland, took Corey Livingston, 39, into custody.
He will be extradited to Mecklenburg County and charged with murder, police said.
The deadly shooting occurred just after 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, in the 100 block of Winding Path Way. As officers arrived, they found multiple shell casings and an unoccupied vehicle.
Not long after, officers responded to a similar call near the intersection of N. Davidson Street and E. 12th Street. It was about 0.5 miles from the first 911 call.
When they got there, they found Jamario Caldwell, 32, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic.
Caldwell's family has been notified of this week's arrest. The investigation is active and ongoing.
