Kentucky flags to be lowered to half-staff on Friday: Here’s why
FRANKFORT, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Gov. Andy Beshear announced that flags in all state office buildings will be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday.
The governor announced on Thursday that the flags would be lowered in honor of William Bailey, a 24-year-old recruit with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.
Bailey died on Nov. 1 from a medical emergency during a training exercise in Barren County, according to law enforcement.
"I was saddened to hear of the tragic loss of Game Warden Tex Bailey," Gov. Beshear said on Thursday. "Britainy and I extend our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones, as well as the entire Department of Fish and Wildlife."
A memorial service will be held for Bailey in his hometown of Huntsville, Alabama , on Friday.

Gov. Beshear encouraged individuals, businesses, and organizations throughout Kentucky to join in lowering flags to half-staff on Friday, per a news release.
