E.Martin33 min ago
DELPHI, Ind. (WNDU) - Closing arguments are finished in the trial for the man accused of killing two teenage girls in Delphi more than seven years ago.

Prosecutors allege Allen committed the killings, citing ballistics evidence and his own confessions. However, the defense has argued there is no DNA or weapons evidence tying him to the killings. The defense also argues Allen admitted to the killings while in a psychotic state brought upon by more than a year of solitary confinement.

According to our sister station WTHR , the jury was given instructions before the prosecution delivered its closing arguments.

The jury will decide on four counts:

  • Count One - Felony Murder for the killing of Abigail Williams while attempting to commit kidnapping
  • Count Two - Felony Murder for the killing of Liberty German
  • Count Three - Murder for knowingly killing Abigail Williams
  • Count Four - Murder for knowingly killing Liberty German
  • Gull told jurors the fact Allen chose not to testify cannot be considered.

Carroll County Prosecutor Nick McLeland delivered the state's closing arguments. According to WTHR, McLeland spent 58 minutes walking jurors through evidence and testimony.

He reportedly replayed the "bridge guy" video, showed gory crime scene photos, and replayed Allen's recorded confessions before asking the jurors to find Allen guilty on all four counts.

The defense spent roughly one hour and 17 minutes delivering its closing arguments. The defense said the state presented a lot of evidence that was rushed and put a lot of questions into the minds of the jury heading into deliberations.

The defense closed by asking the jury to set Allen free and find him not guilty of these crimes.

Court is on break for lunch, but when it resumes McLeland will have the prosecution's rebuttal.
