Nov. 5—Over 15,000 voters turned out for the Nov. 5 General Election in Pontotoc County.

Pontotoc County voters chose Republican Arnold Scott (8,523 votes) as their new sheriff. He defeated Democrat Jason R. Potter (6,522 votes) 56.65 percent to 43.35 percent.

In the state races for Pontotoc County, Republican Tom Cole defeated Democrat Mary Brannon and Independent James Stacy in the United States Representative District 4 contest.

For the State Corporation Commissioner, Republican J. Brian Bingman outdistanced Democrat Harold Spradling and Independent Chad Williams.

Oklahoma Question 834 passed by a big margin. The question prohibits noncitizens from voting. This proposed amendment to Oklahoma's constitution would state that only U.S. citizens can vote, repealing an existing provision stating all citizens can vote.

Oklahomans have voted against State Question 833 which would have given cities the authority to create public infrastructure districts.
