Salinas man arrested trying to break into popular SLO cannabis shop, police say
Police arrested a Salinas man after he allegedly tried to break into a popular San Luis Obispo cannabis business on Wednesday.
At about 11 p.m., the San Luis Obispo Police Department received a report of a man beating on the doors of Megan's Organic Market on Higuera Street, police said in a Facebook post.
"When they arrived, officers found the glass doors had been shattered and they saw a male climb from the rear fenced area onto the roof of the market," the post said.
Salinas resident Anthony Best, 39, then leapt from the roof into the backyard of a nearby mobile home — seemingly attempting to escape, police said.
After a "brief struggle" with the police, Best was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of three charges: felony attempted burglary, felony vandalism and misdemeanor resisting arrest, police said.
He was held at the jail in lieu of $150,000 bail, police said.
Megan's Organic Market was open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. as usual on Thursday, according to a receptionist at the business.
