Emma Stone fueled the rumors that she shaved her signature red locks for her role in Yorgos Lanthimos' new film Bugonia during a recent New York City appearance on Sunday. The 35-year-old, two-time Oscar winner was spotted in a stylish ensemble, sporting a baseball cap and what appeared to be a wig . Just the night before, Emma reportedly unveiled her new look at the Saturday Night Live after-party at L'Avenue at Saks, sources told JustJared . According to the insider, she arrived wearing a 'bucket hat' but later removed it 'to reveal a much shorter haircut.' The shorn speculation first surfaced in early October after fans spotted Emma in photos wearing a snug beanie , sparking theories that she had shaved off her iconic ginger hair for the role. She dropped another playful hint at a possible buzz cut just a day before her NYC outing. At the 2024 New York Film Festival on October 5, a clip on X captured her sneaking a little hair adjustment that looked suspiciously like wig maintenance. This isn't the first time the superstar has embraced a bold new hairstyle—back in August 2023, she surprised fans with a striking platinum blonde look. Over the years, the Cruella actress has experimented with a range of shades, from her iconic auburn to deep brunette and several variations of blonde. Interestingly, PopSugar notes that Stone's natural color is actually a dark blonde. Meanwhile, Emma will fill a leading role in Bugonia, which will be centered on two men who kidnap an influential CEO after becoming convinced that the individual is secretly an alien . She is set to be joined by Jesse Plemons in the feature, which is based on the Korean film Save the Green Planet, which debuted in 2003. Bugonia's script will be written by Will Tracy, and Lanthimos, Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen are all set to serve as producers, reports Variety . Movie buffs will recognize the creative duo of Emma and Yorgos back at it again. Bugonia marks their fourth collaboration, adding to their previous films The Favourite, Poor Things, and Kinds of Kindness. Stone's performance in Poor Things even earned her a second Oscar for Best Actress, following her 2017 win for La La Land. 'We have a great relationship,' Lanthimos said in a statement during the Cannes Film Festival. 'We just love working together.'
