End in sight for M62 Ouse Bridge roadworks
Work to repair a major motorway bridge in East Yorkshire will be completed by 27 October, highways officials have confirmed.
Repairs to the M26 Ouse Bridge, between Howden and Goole, have seen speed restictions and delays on the structure since March 2022.
Engineers have now confirmed work to replace eight damaged joints will be complete by the end of the month with all lanes reopening and speed restrictions lifted.
A spokesperson for National Highways has thanked motorists for their patience while the works continued.
Overnight lane closures
Officials said a speed limit on the westbound carriageway of the bridge has now been lifted from 30mph to 50mph.
The speed limit on the eastbound carriageway is expected to rise from 30mph to 50mph at some point next week.
Lane three and the hard shoulder of the westbound side of the bridge remain closed despite the speed limit increase and the eastbound carriage way will continue to see narrow lanes until the restrictions are lifted.
Officials said they hoped it would take place by 27 October but it is "subject to weather conditions".
The hard shoulder on both carriageways will remain closed until December and overnight closures will be in place for the for additional works to the outer verges.
