Residents in Valley Mills still without water, 36 hours after private company turned water off with no proper notice

VALLEY MILLS, Texas (KWTX) - A resident in Valley Mills is speaking up after he and his neighbors had their water turned off yesterday morning without any proper notice.

Valley Mills homeowner, Jerry Swick, says he and other residents along Wolf Lane near Highway 6 have had to use bottled water for drinking for the past day but aren't sure when the water will be turned back on.

Swick says that on Tuesday at 6:30 in the morning, he noticed the water in his house was not running.

After multiple calls made yesterday, today Swick finally got in contact with the private company who he says runs his water well, SRC water supply.

Swick says the person on the phone with SRC was not able to give him a date to expect the water to return.

"I guess he was frustrated from all the phone calls he received I don't know...but the conversation wound up him hanging up on me because he couldn't give me a definitive answer of when the water was going to be turned back on," Swick recalled.

Swick says that some of his neighbors without water are elderly or have young kids, so the lack of communication has left them all scrambling for a solution.

"My neighbor called and was basically told next week but the water was turned off Tuesday morning...if you're going to turn the water off, and you're telling us for a week you got to make arrangements for it you got to help us out you can't just leave us out here to struggle with it," Swick said.

Swick says that he received a boil notice the day the water went out, with a date for October 24th, but he is still waiting for a definitive answer from SRC Water Supply on when his water will return.

Swick says he has reached out to the commissioner for his area, McLennan County Precinct 4 for help.
