WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — Halloween doesn't have to be all spooks and haunts; Riverbend Nature Center is hosting an event to let the little ones enjoy the sweeter side of the holiday.

RBNC will host Not-So-Scary Halloween on Friday, October 18, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This is the 18th anniversary of the event.

Not-So-Scary Halloween will have a "giant candy" walk, games, crafts, and a Flashlight Fun Trail through the United Children's Garden. DJ Marcus "Maniac" McGee will have music throughout the night.

RBNC Executive Director Jennica Lambert said the Ruby N. Priddy Butterfly and Nature Conservatory will also be open throughout the event for attendees to enjoy.

"You can explore the entire place. You know, check out some snakes. And go through the conservatory, you know, look at the butterfly chrysalis," Lambert said.

Along with all the fun activities, there will also be a costume contest with five different categories: cutest, funniest, spookiest, best group, and most creative. For Lambert, her favorite costumes are the ones where you can tell some thought went into them.

"The ones were [someone] put in a lot of effort," Lambert said. "We've had years where we had kids transform into cars."

Entry into the Not-So-Scary Halloween event is $8 for adults and $4 for children. RBNC members will receive a dollar off.
