Escaping Security Scare In China, Stephen Curry’s Growing Empire Doesn’t Excite Under Armour Athlete
V.Lee27 min ago
Stephen Curry is undoubtedly one of the most adored basketball players in the world. While it's a commendable achievement to garner the public's love, it also comes with its own drawbacks: security concerns. Whenever Steph arrives, a sea of people runs toward him to attain a selfie or an autograph. While many admire the love that the superstar receives from his fans, De'Aaron Fox, a Curry Brand athlete, openly admitted that it doesn't excite him as much. Even though Fox and Steph have locked horns on the court multiple times they share a very close connection. The Sacramento Kings guard is the first ever NBA athlete to sign with the Curry Brand. It's the superstar's signature sub-brand within Under Armour. Tonight, this Under Armour athlete produced a historic performance, attracting a lot of attention in the NBA world. Fox became the third player in NBA history to score 109 points in two days (60 pts vs Wolves, 49 pts vs Jazz) after Wilt Chamberlain and Kobe Bryant . Following this achievement, a reporter asked him what this record meant to him as he stood alongside the greats. The Kings star tried explaining that it doesn't matter much to him, saying, "I don't think about basketball a lot." Struggling to substantiate it, he dropped a Stephen Curry anecdote from the past. This is where he explains why isn't excited about the overflowing love that Steph receives. De'Aaron Fox said, "When I went with Steph to China, we were doing stuff and I'm like, bro, and I told him, like, 'I do not envy you, like, you can't do anything'. he can't go anywhere and it's nuts." Following that, he stressed that would like to live a "Normal" life, unlike an NBA superstar. But the question remains if the 26-year-old can be low-key after his recent heroics. Fox was indeed speaking from his experience. Fox and Steph went to China for the launch of first-ever Curry Brand outlet and also attend a few events after that including a three-point contest. However, the officials had to cancel the event , fearing the "Uncontrolable" crowded swarming the hotel. Truly a lesson learnt! Will Fox's popularity be the same after he wins championships like Stephen Curry? Before the start of the Warriors dynasty, not many knew Stephen Curry. Even if they were familiar with his game, they didn't rush to get a piece of him. However, things took a drastic change in the years to come. As we know, he went on to become one of the greatest shooters in the world. Currently, playing in his 8th season, De'Aaron Fox is yet to win a championship. Speaking of it, the 26-year-old said, "I would love to win championships, but I don't want what he (Steph) has. But that comes with that territory ... I said, I just, I just wanna be, try to be as, as normal as I possibly can." However, Fox may be not able to enjoy his public freedom like usual anymore. With the inclusion of DeMar DeRozan and Domantas Sabonis' consistency, the Kings are truly title contenders. Moreover, Fox also described his ideal life, saying, "People in Sacramento have seen me out, you know, eating breakfast at places or eating dinner at places. And, um, I want that to kind of be normal. Like if someone asks for a picture that's totally fine. If they ask for autographs, that's totally fine. But I try to make that, as normal as I possibly can." Will Fox be able to lead a normal life after winning a chip? Let us know in the comments below.
