A fundraiser for Obi Thornhill, who spent two days in a coma before he died surrounded by his loved ones says they lost "a beautiful, promising, bright and shining young person". A GoFundMe for Obi "beloved son of Corinna and Dan" states that he suffered an unexpected and sudden brain aneurysm while on holidays in France on November 1. He was resuscitated and airlifted to hospital where they attempted to revive him. He spent two days in a coma but "tragically they couldn't bring him back". Obi died "surrounded by his loved ones in the early hours of November 3". "We lost a beautiful, promising, bright and shining young person," the appeal reads. "The family is in a state of shock and devastation and are dealing with all of their unbearable pain and loss in an unfamiliar place, far away from their family and friends." The fundraiser is appealing to friends, acquaintances and "compassionate strangers to donate what you can to make the practical side of things a little easier for Obi's family". Donations will go towards accommodation costs for family and support people in France for as long as they need to stay and towards funeral costs in Ireland and any other associated costs. The West Cafe and Wine Bar in Bantry posted "that it was 'such shocking and sad news" adding, "our thoughts are with all of Obi's friends and family". Another message posted on social media reads: "Dear Obi, how I miss you already. Thank you for shining your pure light on this community. You will forever be a piece of my heart. "Thank you to Corinna Fisher and Dan Thornhill, his wonderful and loving parents, for nurturing this beautiful soul and generously sharing your world." Of this morning the €10,000 target has been surpassed with €25,621 raised.
