Fatal Barbershop Shooting Suspects Arrested By SLPD Two men are charged with homicide, robbery, weapons violations and other offenses.The deadly shooting happened on Oct. 25. (Jenna Fisher/Patch)SAN LEANDRO — Two men have been arrested and charged with homicide for the fatal shooting of a barber during a San Leandro robbery on October 25. Alexis Garcia and Guillermo Camacho, both 26-years-old and residents of Oakland, have been arrested and charged in the case.
According to police, video surveillance footage shows two suspects enter Harrison Brothers barbershop on 14th Street and brandish guns to commit a robbery. The suspects pistol-whipped Jonathan Clay, co-owner of the barbershop, and forcibly removed personal belongings from him.
"During the robbery, Clay was able to draw a firearm and discharge it at the suspects," police said in a release to the community. "The suspects both fired their weapons, killing Clay, and fled the scene."
A second victim in the shop was treated for minor injuries and released at the scene.
Detectives quickly identified Garcia, who was arrested on Oct. 27 by California Highway Patrol officers on unrelated charges following a vehicle pursuit initiated in Oakland. He was subsequently charged by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office with homicide, robbery, assault with a firearm, and weapons violations.
SLPD detectives and SWAT operators located Camacho on Monday driving a stolen vehicle in Oakland. He was taken into custody along with a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine found inside the stolen vehicle driven by Camacho.
On Wednesday, Camacho was charged by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office with homicide, robbery, assault with a firearm, auto theft, and weapons violations.
