Feed Your Soul: Lula Perl Café

R.Green2 hr ago
RUSTON, La. (KNOE) - Anyone looking for a comfortable upscale diner, head to Ruston's Lula Perl Café. Grab some coffee and a pastry, or a meal that may surprise you.

Owners Kate and Paul Halaszyn put a twist on traditional southern dishes like chicken and dumplings, fried green tomatoes and boudain.

The Halaszyns worked for several years in New Orleans in some of the top restaurants.

"My husband and I worked in the restaurant industry for a long time in New Orleans," said Kate. "We met at Dickie Brennan's Bourbon House. We love that place it has a special place in our hearts. I worked the Grill Room. I was a wine salesman. He was a sous chef. He worked at Palace Cafe. I mean, it's a lot of different places that we worked."

I was taken aback by how detailed and unique the plating was, and the flavors were amazing. The chicken and dumplings are a hug in a bowl.

See what other offerings I tried and how the food at Lula Perl Café will feed your soul.
