Feeling social alienation?
With millions of people reportedly leaving Elon Musk's social media site X (formerly Twitter), we wanted to let you know that Evanston Now has expanded its social media offerings.
In addition to following us to get the latest Evanston news on X and Facebook , you now can also get our updates on Bluesky and Threads .
Bluesky is a newer social media platform that the Associated Press says "has emerged as an alternative for those looking for a different mood, lighter and friendlier and less influenced by Musk."
Bluesky also "offers users the chance to more heavily moderate their experience," according to The Guardian .
Threads is a Twitter alternative that's owned by Meta, which also owns Facebook and Instagram. It's currently much larger than Bluesky, with a reported 275 million monthly active users, compared to a reported range of 15 million to 17 million for Bluesky.
But critics say Threads suffers from "the same heavy-handed AI-powered moderation that has become a trademark" of Meta.
