A children's home and special school is to open in Hull later this month.

Felix House in Bransholme will provide live-in places for six children and support another 15 children with autism, learning difficulties and mental health conditions.

The school's head teacher said the city has a "massive need for facilities like this".

Felix House will be run by local care provider Cascade, which said the home will also create 50 or more jobs locally.

Cascade said it has so far recruited nine teaching staff and 31 other positions from the area.

Dean Prowell, one of the managers at Felix House, said: "Creating positive outcomes for Hull's children is something we have always wanted.

"We knew there were a lot of children who were struggling and we could help solve some of these problems if we had the right physical environment."

Sonnie Rozenbroek, from Cascade, said: "We are looking forward to welcoming the children."
