Finding a way that science and Christianity can coexist [column]
Science and Christianity are constantly disagreeing with each other. Whether it's about the Earth's age, the evolution of animals or how old a tree is, they can never seem to find common ground.
Some are convinced that science and faith will forever be at odds, but when one has a deeper understanding of both subjects, one can see they merge: God is the reason behind science and science backs up and proves God's existence.
If the universe's gravitational pull were slightly more powerful, even by less than a billionth of its pull, the universe might collapse back into itself. Likewise, if it were slightly weaker, the universe might solely consist of galaxies where life is unsustainable.
These scientific facts seem to be pointing toward an intelligent designer of the universe. Could the perfect gravitational mix for a universe with life really have happened just by random chance?
It takes more faith to believe that the universe and humans were spontaneously created than to accept that something bigger than us purposefully designed and made us.
When one thinks of the Big Bang theory, one thinks of an explosion that created everything in the universe, which sounds a little unbelievable and almost imaginary.
When one takes a closer look at the universe, one can tell that each cell is intricately woven to produce, sustain and hold living beings, so how can an explosion cause that?
Biochemist Michael Denton wrote, "To grasp the reality of life as it has been revealed by molecular biology, we must magnify a cell a billion times until it is twenty kilometers in diameter and resembles a giant airship large enough to cover a great city like London or New York. What we would then see would be an object of unparalleled complexity and adaptive design."
Our body alone contains 200 different cell types that all have different purposes. Each cell was created with a special purpose, just as the universe, our world, the environment and humans were created for their own intricate purposes.
God exists and the proof is in his creation.
