Fir Erupts on Hillside Southwest of Perris

R.Davis1 days ago

A brush fire erupted Tuesday just southwest of Perris, burning along a rocky hillside where it scorched roughly five acres, but not immediately threatening any homes.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 3:35 p.m. in the area of Lukens Lane and West Metz Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said multiple engine and hand crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a moderate rate to the south on the hillside.

Cal Fire air tankers and water-dropping helicopters were summoned to make runs on the brusher.

The flames were within a mile of residences, but no evacuation orders or warnings had been issued as of 4 p.m.

There was no immediate word on what might have triggered the fire.
