A fire caused extensive damage to a house near Braddock Heights Saturday afternoon.

Fire crews were dispatched to the 7800 block of Ridge Road shortly before 2 p.m. When crews arrived, they encountered fire at the rear of the two-story single-family home, according to Assistant Chief David Polikoff of the Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services.

All residents had exited the structure by the time crews arrived, Polikoff said. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters began what Polikoff described as an aggressive interior attack on the blaze. A tanker task force was dispatched to bring water to the scene of the fire.

It took roughly 60 firefighters about 20 minutes to bring the fire under control, he said.

Considerable damage could be seen to the first and second floors of the house. Polikoff said the fire did not extend to the basement.

The cause of the fire was still being investigated.
