Firefighters extinguish blaze at residence in Cleveland’s Hough neighborhood

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland firefighters extinguished a blaze Thursday in the city's Hough neighborhood.

Officers were called about 2:15 p.m. to put out a fire at a home in the 8000 block of Whitethorn Avenue, near East 80th Street, according to Lt. Mike Norman, the division's spokesman. The fire began because of an electrical issue, and it was determined to be accidental, he said.

No one was hurt.

One person was in the home at the time of the fire, and the resident gained assistance from the American Red Cross.

Norman said estimated damages to the home were around $30,000. No neighboring homes were damaged.
