JACKSON, Wyo. — The first South American woman to climb Mount Everest, Patty Soto, will kick off this year's Womentum Leadership Summit with a keynote address on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 7pm at the Center for the Arts.

Soto, who is based in Santiago, Chile, is also the first South American person to complete the 7 Summits. She will tell her story, including how after decades of climbing in a culture shrouded with machismo, she honored her own style. As a NOLS guide for more than 15 years and a professor of Expedition Management and Ecotourism Engineering, Soto loves working with youth, to whom she tries to impart the pride of going after their dreams in their own way. She will give her remarks in Spanish, which will be interpreted into English through headsets provided by Womentum.

This year's theme – Embracing Our Roots, Together We Rise – emphasizes impactful narratives, workshops, panel discussions, and community-building sessions to equip attendees with new skills, inspiration, and a revitalized sense of purpose and direction. The extraordinary lineup of speakers includes Soto, entrepreneur and business coach Zeahlot Lopez, and author and storytelling expert Carrie Klewin Lawrence.

Join Womentum the evening of Thursday, Nov. 7 and/or Friday, Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Center for the Arts or via livestream.
