Food Bank plans distributions

Food Bank of Northern Indiana has announced it will continue mobile food distributions in October.

Assorted food items are offered free of charge on a first-come-first-served basis while supplies last for those in need of assistance. One box/bag per household is allowed.

These are drive-thru distributions. Participants are asked to remain in their vehicle and open their trunk to receive items. An area in the lot will be available to load items if the trunk does not open.

Here are the distribution times and locations (all times are local):

LaPorte County: 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 2, LaPorte County Fairgrounds, 2581 W. Indiana 2, LaPorte; this distribution is sponsored by Citizens Concerned for the Homeless and will serve 350 households

Marshall County: 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, Plymouth Parks, 1660 N. Michigan St.(by the pool parking lot), Plymouth; this distribution is sponsored by United Way of Marshall County and will serve 250 households

St. Joseph County: 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, Walker Field, 2198 S. Walnut St., South Bend; this distribution is sponsored by Kroger and will serve 200 households

Elkhart County: 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, Clayton Homes, 66700 SR 19, Wakarusa; this distribution is provided by Clayton Homes and will serve 300 households

Starke County: 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, Knox United Methodist Church, 201 S. Shield St., Knox; this distribution is provided by the USDA and will serve 200 households

Kosciusko County: 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Oct. 16, the former Helping Hands Food Pantry, 10072 W. 600 S., Mentone; this distribution is provided by the USDA and will serve 150 households

Marshall County: 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Oct. 17, Argos United Methodist Church, 570 N. Michigan St., Argos; this distribution is provided by Kroger and will serve 200 households

LaPorte County: 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Oct. 18, H.O.P.E. Community Center, 222 McClelland Ave., Michigan City; this distribution is sponsored by the City of Michigan City and will serve 200 households

Elkhart County: 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Oct. 21, The Hub, Hearts United for Bristol, Food Pantry, 101 W. Vistula St., Bristol; this distribution is sponsored by Kroger and will serve 200 households

LaPorte County: 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 23, Marquette Mall, 201 W. U.S.20, Michigan City; this distribution is sponsored by Citizens Concerned for the Homeless and will serve 350 households
