A former Premier League winner is reportedly set to join Thomas Tuchel 's coaching staff after the German was named England 's new permanent manager on Wednesday.

Tuchel has signed an 18-month contract to lead England into the 2026 World Cup, and will take up the manager's hotseat in January.

It has already been confirmed that he will be assisted by Anthony Barry, who he has previously worked with at Chelsea and Bayern Munich , and he is now looking to put together the rest of his backroom team.

According to Chelsea insider Nathan Gissing , Tuchel will bring in the Blues' goalkeeping coach Hilario on a part-time basis.

Hilario spent eight years as a player at Chelsea between 2006 and 2014, and won the Premier League in 2010 under Carlo Ancelotti .

He was also part of the squad that lifted the Champions League two years later. However, he was largely Petr Cech's understudy at Stamford Bridge, and was restricted to just 39 appearances for the club in eight seasons.

Hilario has been a goalkeeping coach at Chelsea since 2016, and worked alongside Tuchel between January 2021 and September 2022.

The pair will now reunite as they aim to guide England to World Cup glory. Gissing has also revealed that a Chelsea video analyst is also expected to be part of Tuchel's new setup as the 51-year-old manager plots a raid on his former club.

Tuchel spent 20 months at Chelsea after replacing Frank Lampard, and won the Champions League in his opening season as the Blues shocked Manchester City in the final.

He went on to win the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup in his second season, while also losing on penalties to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup finals.

But Chelsea changed ownership in the summer of 2022, with a Todd Boehly-led consortium replacing Roman Abramovich at the helm, and Tuchel was sacked in the opening weeks of the 2022-23 season after a difficult start to the campaign.

He went on to manage Bayern Munich and led them to the Bundesliga title in 2023 before leaving the club at the end of last season.

Tuchel will now return to England to take charge of the Three Lions, as he follows in the footsteps of Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello to become the third foreign manager of the men's team.
