Twila Kilgore, an assistant coach who served as the U.S. women's national team's interim coach for nine months, is leaving U.S. Soccer to pursue other coaching opportunities, the program said Tuesday.

Kilgore, who has also coached the U.S. U-19 and U-23 teams, took over the senior team in August 2023 when Vlatko Andonovski resigned the post.

The USWNT hired Chelsea manager Emma Hayes for the full-time role, and she joined the team in May.

The USWNT went 10-2-1 under Kilgore, winning the inaugural CONCACAF W Gold Cup in March and the SheBelieves Cup in April. Kilgore stayed on as an assistant coach for the Paris Olympics, where the Americans won gold.
