ATLANTA, Ga. ( WANF /Gray News) - Two weeks after his milestone 100th birthday, former President Jimmy Carter cast his ballot in the November election.

The Carter Center said the Plains, Georgia native voted by mail on Wednesday.

The former president's grandson Jason Carter said in September the former president, who's been in hospice care since February 2023, was looking forward to voting for Vice President Kamala Harris.

"He was excited to turn 100, but he's more excited to cast his ballot for Vice President Harris," Jason Carter said. "I think he's ready to turn the page on Donald Trump, like many, many of the rest of us. And I also think that he does believe in this historical moment."

Carter officially became the longest-living former president when he turned 100 on Oct. 1.
