Four 14-year-olds taken into custody after burglary at Williamsburg Tobacco and Vape
YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Four 14-year-olds were taken into custody after a burglary at the Williamsburg Tobacco and Vape store on Tuesday, officials said.
Around 3:20 a.m., York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a business burglary alarm at the Williamsburg Tobacco and Vape store in the 500 block of Merrimac Trail. Deputies found both front and rear doors of the business were damaged in an apparent attempt to gain entry.
An employee of the business arrived on scene and viewed a video showing four males dressed in dark clothing had attempted to break into the building. They were seen fleeing toward the rear of the business.
Deputies set up a perimeter in the area, and K9 Ghost and Deputy First Class Ashley Octaviano were dispatched to the scene.
DFC Octaviano and K9 Ghost arrived on scene around 4 a.m. and started their search. Around 4:10 a.m., the first two suspects were located by Ghost and taken into custody in the area of Colonial Avenue and Musket Drive.
DFC Octaviano and Ghost continued their search, and around 4:15 a.m., Ghost located backpacks belonging to the suspects.
Around 4:35 a.m., K9 Ghost located the remaining two suspects in the 100 block of Flintlock Road, and both were taken into custody. All four suspects are 14 years old. Three are York County residents, and one is a resident of James City County.
All four juveniles were turned over to their parents, and all four will be charged with attempted burglary, felony damage of property and possession of burglary tools.
