Frances Angelina Galloni OBITUARY
December 4, 1936 – October 29, 2024
Frances Galloni passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. She touched many lives with her gentle spirit and positive outlook on life.
Frances was born in Pittsburg, CA. She travelled with her mother and stepfather, who was in the service. She graduated high school from Nuremberg High School in Germany. She began college at the University of Maryland in Germany. She transferred to San Jose State University in her sophomore year and graduated in 1958 with a degree in Public Administration. Frances was a trailblazer for women being the first female to graduate with this degree and graduated with honors. She was hired by the City of San Jose in the Personnel department. There were only 7 in the department at that time. Over the next 31 years she rose through the ranks to become the first female director of personnel with a total 73 now in the department. She retired from the City in 1990.
Frances is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Peter Galloni and her son, Michael Galloni. She was devoted to her two grandsons, Matthew (Amanda) and Nicholas Galloni. She is predeceased by her brother, John Westbrook, and is survived by her brother Jack Cardinale. Her generous, loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
