Fredericksburg police make arrest in shooting incident that occurred next to the police station
A 34-year-old Fredericksburg man has been charged with four felony offenses in connection with a shooting incident last week in the city, police said.
Shawn Parker is charged with attempted murder, malicious wounding, possessing a firearm as a felon and using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
According to city police, the victim entered the police station the evening of Oct. 28 and used a lobby phone to inform the 911 center that he had been shot. The victim was treated by officers in the lobby before being taken to Mary Washington Hospital for what police described as non-life-threatening injuries.
The shooting took place at the Commons at Cowan Boulevard next door to the police station. Police received multiple calls regarding shots being fired about the same time the wounded man showed up.
Parker was arrested Thursday at the Commons by city detectives and the Special Equipment Tactical Team, police spokeswoman Jessica Carter said.
Carter said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective A.C. Stachurski at 540/654-5748.
