Frenship ISD excited for future after voters approve bond measures

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Frenship ISD Superintendent Michelle McCord says Proposition A will help the district make it a priority to pay staff the wages she believes they deserve.

"I can't think of a more noble profession in the world and their pay just has not kept up with the inflation that we've seen the past several years," McCord said. "So I'm hoping many of them who have a second job to try and make ends meet can kind of turn in their notice."

Proposition B is a $189.5 million bond to build two new elementary schools as well as addressing renovations and student transportation.

McCord says everything is planned but it may take a few months for the district to break ground.

"It takes a while to see a construction project actually coming out of the ground, so that might take six months or so, but the planning is already in the works," McCord said.

With the growth of Lubbock comes more students.

McCord believes growing their district with the growth of the city will benefit everyone in the community.

"Those 3,000 students, this will give them a place to go to school and not have crowded buildings, so it pays for those schools and safety and security pay our police officers and hire additional police officers," McCord said.

McCord says they are here to serve you regardless of what you voted for.

"Those people who were hesitant and it passed anyways we are here to answer your questions if they have misgivings or concerns to just call us, email us, reach out and we will try to ease their minds or resolve their concerns, if possible," McCord said.

To keep up with Frenship ISD projects.
