Fresno State wins men's basketball season opener, Walberg debut

Vance Walberg waited 18 years to lead Fresno State's men's basketball program.

After finally taking over the Bulldogs, the longtime Clovis West HS coach wasted no time getting his first win as head coach.

The Bulldogs (1-0) trailed by nine early in the second half, but a 17-2 run catapulted the hosts ahead for good.

Zaon Collins chipped in 11 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

Fresno State next travels to UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday, Nov. 13 for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
