Funeral arrangements announced for former New Orleans City Councilwoman Jackie Clarkson
NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — Funeral arrangements have been announced for former city council member and state representative Jackie Clarkson .
On June 26, it was announced that Clarkson died at the age of 88.

Clarkson was an Algiers resident and served as a councilwoman for District C. She became a state representative after losing her bid for re-election to Congressman Troy Carter.
In a statement, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell said Clarkson was "one of the most engaging and respected City officials and had a unique way of understanding the needs of our people and how to address them."

On Tuesday, July 2, it was announced that Clarkson's funeral will be held at the St. Louis Cathedral on July 9 at 2 p.m.
Visitation will be held on July 8 at the National WWII Museum's Freedom Pavillion from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
