The events was due to open in Fr Burke Park in Galway Westend on November 21 and was supposed to run until January 5, 2025.

However, the organisers have this week announced that due to unforeseen circumstances the event will not be able to proceed this year. They explained that those who have already purchased tickets will be refunded.

The organisers said they are "incredibly grateful" for the support they have received since the event was announced thanked all those who have contributed to the project.

A spokesperson for Winterglow.ie said: "While we cannot bring this to life in Fr Burke Park this year, we remain optimistic about making Winterglow.ie a reality for Christmas 2025. Thank you to everyone who showed such support for this event on social media, in real life and through purchasing tickets (which will be fully refunded) . We are so disappointed that this cannot happen this year."

This winter spectacle was described as a unique experience, a mesmerising realm of lights and sounds where visitors could stroll through uniquely themed zones, each offering its own captivating visual and auditory delights.
