Gem City Barbers opens new shop on Erie’s Bayfront

A business committed to offering a blend of traditional and modern-day barbering has opened on the Bayfront.

Gem City Barbers held a grand opening celebration at its new location at 34 State Street.

The owners said they're excited to bring a brand new, unique business to the Bayfront area.

Gem City Barbers had a soft opening about six months ago and co-owner Donald Woods said there's always a need for more barber shops.

Second annual Erie Duathlon kicks off this Sunday

"Machines can't cut hair so you need human activity. It's Erie's only Bayfront barber shop. We have clear access to all of the hotel matrix if you would — the guests, the employees, the people coming in and out of the city as well as private clientele who are associated with barbers themselves," said Woods.
