Gen Z doesn't know how to sign their names - and it's impacting the election

Many Gen Zers do not know how to sign their names - and it's completely messing up the election . Thousands of people across the globe are anxiously waiting to find out who will be the next US President - Kamala Harris or Donald Trump . But Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar has revealed that the results may take longer to come in because the state is facing an uptick in rejected mail-in ballots due to problems with voters' signatures. According to the New York Times , autographs on the envelopes of mail-in ballots must match the person's signature in the voter registration database. And Francisco told the publication that because many 'young people' don't focus on creating signatures 'these days,' their votes aren't being counted. He said people can fix ballot problems up until November 12 - which means we may not know if the swing state has gone Democratic or Republican for days. As of Monday evening, he revealed that more than 18,500 ballots had been rejected in Clark County alone - the most populated county in the battleground state, which is where Las Vegas sits. 'It's mostly the fact that young people don't have signatures these days,' Francisco explained. 'And when they did register to vote through the automatic voter registration process, they signed a digital pad at the DMV, and that became their license signature.' Many schools across the US have stopped teaching students cursive handwriting amid the rise of technology. In 2010, the practice was removed from the national Common Core standards for K-12 education, and now, only 24 out of 50 states require it to be taught in schools. Francisco added that the problem with signatures on ballots 'goes beyond youth,' as 'older voters who may sign their names differently throughout the course of their lives' have also gotten their mail-in votes rejected.
