George Das, 70, beloved IT professional, dies Eden Prairie
George A. Das, 70, died on October 15, 2024, in Eden Prairie, MN, after a battle with advanced renal cancer. His warmth and wisdom touched many lives.
Early years and educationBorn on April 1, 1954, in Bogra, Bangladesh, George was raised in a Christian community as the son of a police chief and a midwife. A chance encounter with a missionary deeply influenced his faith and life.
Academic and professional pursuitsGeorge graduated with a degree in archaeology from a college in India and moved to Fort Wayne , IN, under the sponsorship of Rev. Binkley. He earned a bachelor's degree in biblical studies from Fort Wayne Bible College in 1980, where he met his future wife, Michelle Jean Hurst. They married on November 20, 1982.
Career and relocationGeorge began his career in IT at Summit Bank in Fort Wayne and later worked in mainframe IT for SuperValu . His role led him to Kenosha, WI, and eventually to Eden Prairie, MN, where he completed 36 years of service and retired in 2023.
Personal interestsGeorge enjoyed walks, listening to the radio, politics, reading history, gardening, and fishing. His gentle nature and dedication made him a cherished friend and family member.
Family and legacyGeorge is survived by his sons, Josh and Ryan Das. He was preceded in death by his wife, Michelle; his parents; his sister, Clara Das; and his brother, Douglas Das.
