COLLEGE STATION, Texas — As the city of College Station gears up to host the King of Country, George Strait, at Kyle Field tomorrow, his opening act, Parker McCollum, came in and gave his fans a show and a meet and greet at Lucchese Boot store in Century Square on Friday.

Some of these die-hard fans made sure they were the first in line to meet their longtime country idol.

Fan, Kyleigh Kelly expressed her excitement, "I'm nervous. We got here at like six a.m. We've been waiting for five and a half hours so it's been pretty crazy, but we've been listening to his music for like five years now so it's our first time meeting him and we're really excited."

However, this country artist is still in awe of his own success and this opportunity to share the city's biggest stage with his idol.

Parker McCollum described his feelings, "I feel like two weeks ago I was 12 years old sitting in my room playing the guitar wanting to be a country singer and I've been blessed to do the major record deal thing and have some number ones, but nothing really feels as good as George Strait thinking highly enough of us to put us on this big of a show he's been doing this for 50 years and he's playing the biggest show of his career, so for him to let us put our version of country on his stage for an hour and a half that night that's good."

Parker began playing his shows at The Tap and Hurricane Harry's in College Station when he was just starting out as a country singer and now, he can't wait for his full circle moment to play his hits at Kyle Field.

"We have a brand-new song we're gonna play tomorrow night and I think that'll be a bright spot in our set but we have an hour and a half so we'll go out and play our full headlining set," McCollum said.

The concert will take place Saturday, June 15 at 6 p.m.
