Giants Trade Rumor: Dump Devin?

Sports Giants Trade Rumor: Dump Devin?

At first glance, a "report'' on the New York Giants trading running back Devin Singletary to the Cleveland Browns seems to come delivered with some level of gravitas.

After all ... it's published by ESPN. It's written by an "insider.'' And it lives valued behind a paywall. There's got to be something there, there ... right?

Wrong. The "report'' isn't a report. It doesn't even quality as a rumor. It's speculative at best, as Dan Graziano of ESPN is shoving a bunch of names you've heard of - Davante Adams! Amari Cooper! Devin Singletary!' - into a piece about who he thinks could be traded near the NFL's November 5 trade deadline.

Again, not who "Giants sources'' think might be expendable. And not who "Browns sources'' think might be desirable; it's guessing, with no more insight offered than is available from any Giants fan paying any attention at all.

Or maybe less than that.

and they don't even include the Cleveland side of the story, which would have to view Singletary as superior to Jerome Ford, who is presently starting in place of Nick Chubb, who hopes to return from his knee issue at midseason.

There might indeed be a point when New York, if it is going nowhere, wishes to get out from under the (fairly-affordable) Singletary contract in order to turn the page. But again, you as a fan knows that. ... and you don't even have an "insider paywall'' to prove it.
