Give! Campaign: Rocky Mountain Field Institute

(SPONSORED) — The 2024 Give! Campaign is live and ready for your support! This year, we're rallying to support and uplift local SOCO nonprofits, including Rocky Mountain Field Institute (RMFI), an organization that focuses on protecting landscapes and ecosystems.

For over 40 years, RMFI has conserved and protected SOCO's beautiful landscapes through volunteer-based landscape restoration projects in the area, including Garden of the Gods, Palmer Park, Guffet Gorge, and more.

RMFI partners with land managers to protect these resources through erosion control measures and trail systems.

"That can take the form of building steps, like a staircase, out of rocks to remove sloped trails that are in a position to erode and gully out after rain storms, building retaining walls to ensure that sediment remains where it is supposed to in our public lands, armoring the surface of a trail to withstand the recreational use this area sees, and more," said RMFI's Marketing and Development Director Sam Hinkle.

Besides manual work to help ecosystems, RMFI also engages in environmental education and research and focuses on educating others about the importance of the work done in different areas.

The nonprofit is always looking for volunteers. If you have an active hand, RMFI may be perfect for you to help out during the spring season.

If you'd like to lend a hand differently, all donations RMFI receives go directly towards supporting public lands in Colorado Springs and Southern Colorado.

"If you live in Colorado Springs and care for the landscapes that make this place such a special place to live, please consider making a contribution to the Rocky Mountain Field Institute this year!" Hinkle said.
