GOLDEN, Colo. (KKTV) - The City of Golden identified the officer killed in a crash while working on an icy road Wednesday night. According to Colorado State Patrol, three Golden officers were working at a crash scene on Highway 58 just before 5 p.m. The site was just east of Washington Avenue on a curved overpass. As two of the three officers stood outside along the road managing the site, State Patrol says a car came barreling through the scene, striking both officers and forcing them under the original crashed vehicle. One of the officers was killed, while the other suffered serious injuries. On Thursday, the officer killed in the crash was identified as 33-year-old Officer Evan Dunn. The city said he is survived by his wife, Annalise, and dog, Remy, as well as his parents and two siblings. CBS Denver says he was called to serve both country and community, having been in the military before becoming a police officer. "He was an amazing human being. He has had a long, stoic career in the military, where he flew Black Hawk helicopters and served as a commander," Golden Police Chief Joe Harvey told CBS Denver. "He will be survived by a wonderful wife, a sister and parents. Internally, he's going to be survived by 71 members of his Golden family." State Patrol announced Thursday that troopers had arrested 43-year-old Stephen Geer in connection with the crash and that Geer was being charged with several offenses, including vehicular homicide involving DUI, two counts of vehicular assault involving DUI, and failing to abide by the state "Move Over" law. State Patrol and numerous other Colorado law enforcement agencies extended their condolences towards Dunn's friends and family. "Our thoughts are with the members of the Golden Police Department and the friends and families of the involved officers," State Patrol said.{/p/p}
