GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) – Life can change in a matter of seconds. Kamberlyn Bowler, E. coli victim, states, "Very scary and hard, but I got through it." Randall states, "We just knew that it was kidney failure, and they basically told us that we would need to be Life Flighted to Denver." Kamberlyn was then isolated in the children's ICU for 12 days. She says it wasn't easy putting the brakes on her life. Bowler states, "It's hard to stay in a room because I was just like, can I leave? Like, can I go get myself water? Like, all this. but I couldn't do that." Nobody thinks that eating one of these quarter pounder hamburgers from McDonald's can cause a life or death situation. But unfortunately one resident is facing a change in their daily routine. "I missed softball my last two games, my first year playing for high school. I missed those games. I also missed like, whole bunch of schoolwork tests. I'm very grateful that my grades didn't go down because they were able to pause it," Bowler said. Randall explains, "Having to limit herself in everything that she's doing is very hard for her, and it's very frustrating to see her go through that as a mom." As Brittany and Kamberlyn move forward, their trust in fast food will never be the same. Randall explains, "We're kind of more on the scared side. We don't really want to eat out and it's nerve wrecking for us because we don't know if people are having good hygiene." Every day is a fight for Kamberlyn and there are some words of encouragement. Bowler states, "I say that I can do this. Every like that I can do it. I'm strong enough to."
